WHen black theatre works

a message from our conference planner:

Greetings BTN Family,

The 2018 Black Theatre Network Annual Conference is soon approaching.  Final plans are being made for an exciting and invigorating conference.  This year’s theme Liberation Theatre: When Black Theatre Works! will be hosted by Hattiloo Theatre Company of Memphis TN.  They are excited, and graciously await our time for this year’s conference. Our plenary sessions include papers, workshops, panel presentations, play readings and performances.   Our host hotel is the Residence Inn in Downtown Memphis, located in the downtown section of town conveniently near the downtown trolly and many shops and restaurants.  A few of the hotel highlights include:

    ~Full Service Starbucks on site

~ City View Rooftop Bar: Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4pm, with happy hour specials

~ Complimentary passes to a full-service gym across the street

~ Many convenient restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

Our transportation to and from the Hattillo theatre is a quick UBER or LIFT ride away.  We are in the process of arranging additional travel van services for our conference attendees. We are excited about this year’s awards ceremony and induction of new officers, which be held at the National Civil Rights Museum on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

I look forward to seeing you in Memphis!

Andre Harrington, BTN Vice President and 2018 Conference Planner.
