Brown University seeks Acting and Directing Professor

The Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University
invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor or an Associate
Professor with tenure to teach acting and directing. Preference will be for
an assistant professor.  The successful applicant will join a vibrant
Department that emphasizes the intersections of scholarship and practice.
Duties include: teach two courses each semester, including core courses in
acting and directing as well as additional courses in specific areas of
expertise; direct one main-stage production each year; sit on season
selection board; help to support an undergraduate concentration program; and
contribute to the ongoing vitality of a variety of graduate programs. We
seek someone with a grounding in actor training, a wide-ranging intellectual
curiosity and knowledge of dramatic literature, and a dynamic and
challenging stylistic range as a director. An MFA in acting or directing and
some experience in one of the two fields expected. PhD's with similar
training are welcome to apply.

The deadline for applying is November 1, 2010. The term of appointment would
begin July 1, 2011.

Candidates should submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae and/or
professional resume to the Search Committee. Candidates at the rank of
Assistant Professor should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be
sent to the committee and those at the rank of Associate Professor should
provide names of at least five referees whom the committee may contact.
