ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/INSTRUCTOR OF VOICE & MOVEMENT
TENURE TRACK/TERM APPOINTMENT

Starting date: August 2012
Qualifications: Terminal degree in theatre required. MFA preferred. Documentation of teaching voice and movement for the actor at the collegiate/professional level at the rank of instructor or above required; at least three years of teaching experience preferred. Documentation of significant progress toward certification or certification in teaching a recognized approach to vocal training for the actor preferred. The ability to integrate movement and voice training with the acting sequence is strongly desired. An additional area of specialization is desirable, such as choreography skills, the ability to teach non-western styles of theatre, basic acting, audition, stage combat, etc. Support for professional development available at the departmental, collegiate, and university levels. Rank and appointment type dependent on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities: Teaching all levels of voice and movement for the actor. The successful candidate may contribute to the delivery of the department’s core classes, some of which are team-taught (cross-disciplinary), which emphasize theatre’s collaborative process. Vocal/speech and movement/fight coaching expected as needed. The successful candidate may have opportunities to direct within the season. Other responsibilities include student advising, recruitment, and service to the department, college, and university. Pre-employment background checks are required.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
