ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, AFRICAN AMERICAN THEATER & ACTING

African American Theater and Acting: The Department of Theater and Dance at Emory University in Atlanta invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor, who will initiate courses in African American theater and teach multiple courses in our acting sequence, which requires expertise in a variety of performance techniques. Our next colleague will also be a Resident Artist at Theater Emory (TE), an Equity company that serves our faculty as a laboratory and that makes it possible for our undergraduates to work with professionals. Innovation, the creation of original work, exploration of diverse cultural perspectives, and reimagining of the classics are characteristic of TE; each four-show season is unique. Atlanta Performs’ directory of companies indicates the breadth of opportunities in Atlanta’s theater scene. An M.FA. or Ph.D. along with experience in teaching advanced acting courses is required.

The ideal candidate will have a dynamic scholarly profile, substantial experience as a director and/or a demonstrated interest in developing new works. Go to apply.interfolio.com/37662 and electronically submit the materials requested. Questions should be directed to the search chair, Donald McManus, dcmcman@emory.edu, (404) 727-8523. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2016. Women, minorities, persons with disabilities and veterans are encouraged to apply.
