Assistant Professor of Costume Design

The Theatre & Dance Department at the University of Memphis invites applications for a full time, tenure-track position in costume design. The M.F.A. degree is required. Applicants must have a record of professional activity in costume design. Commitment to student development suitable for a professional training program offering the M.F.A. and B.F.A. in theatrical design a must. Experience using computer technologies desirable.

Teaching includes Costume Design, Period Style, Rendering, Introduction to Design, and Introduction to Theatre with opportunities to teach in allied design areas. Responsibilities include serving as costume designer or advisor for a season of six productions and supervision of the costume area. Continued involvement in professional theatre expected. Departmental responsibilities include advising M.F.A. and B.F.A. candidates, and assigned committee work. The position is supported by a costume shop supervisor and GAs.
