Professor of Practice - Theater Design and Technology

The Syracuse University Department of Drama is seeking a Professor of Practice in Lighting Design, with additional expertise in at least one other area of theatrical design (preferably projection design) to: teach courses in theatrical lighting design; serve as a designer for department productions; and serve as both an academic and design advisor to student designers in all areas of theatrical design, guiding them in the creation and realization of professional quality theatrical designs in accordance with current best professional practices. This is a three-year, renewable non-tenure track position. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree and an MFA in theatrical design (or equivalent professional design experience). Additional qualifications include: Proven ability to successfully design professional quality department productions, as demonstrated by a record of professional accomplishment. Ability and willingness to collaborate with faculty in all programs of study in the ongoing life of a top-quality pre-professional theater program. Position begins August 2018.
