The preferred candidate will hold an MFA or have professional equivalence. A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience is desired. Proficiency, though not necessarily certification, in the principles of breath work and voice production for the actor is desired, along with a familiarity of prominent techniques, which might include but not be limited to Linklater, Fitzmaurice, Lessac, Alexander Technique, and ritual song. Background in dialects and an ability to discuss with students their progress in text analysis and the International Phonetic Alphabet would be a plus.
The candidate will mentor a community of undergraduates with diverse backgrounds. The candidate whose experience reflects work with and/or teaching diverse communities is preferable.
Responsibilities will include teaching voice within the BFA conservatory program, guiding students in production, voice coaching selected productions, and taking part in the daily life and culture of the school. The position is Pittsburgh-based. Establishing and/or maintaining professional engagements is encouraged.
