The Department of Theater and Dance at Emory University invites applications for two faculty positions with a specialization in Acting.
Acting Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Theater Studies, with a specialization in Acting. We seek a committed and experienced teacher of acting who is also active as a working artist with a recognized professional career. The teaching load for this position is 4 courses per academic year and qualified artists are expected to continue their acting career as a component of their research responsibility. Experience in Acting for the Screen and other media is highly desirable.
• M.F.A. in Acting, or equivalent degree in Acting
• University teaching experience in acting, with the ability to teach across all levels from beginning to advanced
• Evidence of a superlative and ongoing performance career
• Statement regarding your artistic and academic aspirations that includes your experience in the teaching and mentoring of students from diverse backgrounds
• CV with the names of three References
Lecture Track Faculty: Acting
Lecture Track Faculty member in Theater Studies, with a specialization in Acting. As a lecture-track faculty member, the successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to support our teaching mission as a specialist in acting pedagogy. The lecture-track appointment at Emory is renewable with opportunities for advancement in rank: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Professor of Pedagogy. The normal teaching load for faculty in the lecture-track at Emory is 5 courses per academic year. Faculty holding lecture track appointments are expected to be exceptional teachers in the classroom and in the community, as well as to be actively engaged in service to the institution. Lecture track faculty differ from their tenure track colleagues in that the responsibilities focus on teaching, program administration, and service. Lecture track faculty are also expected to participate in professional activities that keep them abreast of their fields and enhance their teaching and service to the institution. Experience in teaching Voice for the Actor is highly desirable.
Requirements: • M.F.A. in Acting, or equivalent degree in Acting • University teaching experience in acting, with the ability to teach across all levels from beginning to advanced • Evidence of active scholarship and professional development in Acting pedagogy, such as literary publications, new course development, and/or the creation of new teaching methodology • Statement regarding your artistic and academic aspirations that includes your experience in the teaching and mentoring of students from diverse backgrounds • CV with the names of three References
