A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor is available in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts. The department seeks a candidate with expertise in lighting and scenic design, and an ability to teach introductory sound technology who is committed to teaching excellence. Duties and responsibilities include teaching introduction to design, history of design, lighting and scenic design, and introduction to sound technology; and providing scenic and lighting designs in a new state-of-the-art performing arts center (Pablo Center at the Confluence) as part of diverse mainstage productions which include plays, musicals, and operas. The department serves approximately 110 majors and minors in undergraduate programs in theatre arts and dance, as well as 375 majors and minors in music. The theatre program is primarily housed in the Pablo Center which includes a 1200-seat theatre, a flexible 400-seat theatre, rehearsal rooms, and labs for sound, lighting, scenic, and costume design, and recording arts. MFA in Theatre Design required. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2019/2020 academic year, August 26, 2019.
