Assistant Professors of Performance (two positions) Department of Theatre Arts College of Fine Arts and Communication
Position: The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for two tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professors in the Department of Theatre Arts beginning August 2019.
Qualifications: MFA in acting preferred, but related terminal degrees with performance experience will be considered. Demonstrated abilities as a classroom/studio teacher of acting and a record of creative activity and/or scholarship.
Responsibilities: Position carries a 7 course teaching load with responsibilities for required courses in the BFA in acting, performance electives for all theatre students, and directing and coaching as needed. Seeking one with a specialty in recognized pedagogies of voice and speech, and one with a specialty in a recognized pedagogy of movement. Capable of integrating voice and movement skills into the acting process. The department is also interested in colleagues with an awareness of current and emerging trends in the acting profession. Examples include engagement with electronic media, theatre in communities, improve/comedy, or musical theatre. Service to the department and active engagement in creative activity and scholarship expected. Applicants with demonstrated experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, are desired.
