Costume Shop Supervisor

The Conservatory of Theater Arts at Purchase College is accepting applications for Costume Shop Supervisor. This position will be responsible for general management of student production in the shop and the execution of costumes for Conservatory Productions. Together with workroom supervisor and other staff, position will provide training and supervision of student costume builds and wardrobe crews including freshman student rotations. Responsible for the management of the costume shop operating and production budgets including petty cash.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Costume related field. 5+ years professional experience in an educational or professional costume shop. Commitment to support diversity and inclusion values and goals in all areas of our work Thorough understanding of machine and hand sewing, alterations, professional finishing techniques, basic crafts, dyeing, millinery; high standards of craftsmanship. Interest and ability to work with undergraduate students training to work in the professional theatre. Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills required for email, budgeting and scheduling, and applications relevant to the operation of a costume shop. Strategic thinking, prioritization, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Strongly demonstrated commitment to safety in the entertainment industry.
