MFA Performance Pedagogy Program

The University of Pittsburgh invites applicants for the MFA Performance Pedagogy program for enrollment for Fall 2020. MFA candidates will teach a range of performance classes from foundational acting to special topics for which they receive a highly competitive financial assistantship that includes tuition, stipend and health benefits. The MFA in Performance Pedagogy is a unique full-time two-year program designed to equip working, professional actors with the pedagogical tools for teaching performance at the college and university level. Each student receives mentorship by experienced teachers and explores actor-training methods. MFA candidates will also complement teaching and classroom work with practical experiences on main-stage and lab season productions. Alumni have a successful track record of attaining positions at all levels of academia. Students receive specific feedback on job materials in order to be competitive in the academic market. Successful applicants will be seasoned professional actors with at least five years of professional experience, preferably with some teaching or coaching, and willing to make a full commitment in residence in Pittsburgh.
