The City College of New York, located in Harlem, has an extraordinarily diverse and vibrant Theatre Department (www.ccny.cuny.edu/theatre), which is fueled by a continuously working, full-time faculty of professional Directors, Actors, Playwrights, etc; and energized by a dedicated collection of students from all over the world. Annual activities include: faculty-directed shows; student-directed productions; an annual one-act festival; Workshops; the premieres of a number of new plays; and a CUNY-wide theatre festival; in addition to classes in Theatre, Speech and Dance. In January or August of 2019, the Department will be adding a Technical Supervisor (the University calls it a CLT, or College Laboratory Technician), who will be responsible for: Daily and long-term maintenance of the studio spaces (including the lighting systems, sound systems and other specialty equipment) in Compton Goethals Hall; Technical supervision of multiple Student and Workshop Productions; Supervision of the student Studio Theatre Managers; and Reporting to and receiving project assignments from the Department Chair and the Department Administrator. There may also be the possibility of design work and adjunct teaching opportunities, so teaching and design experience would be beneficial.
