Assistant or Associate Professor in Costume Design

The Department of Theatre at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor (100%) in Costume Design beginning Fall 2019. Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate foundation courses in costume design and makeup; developing research/creative works in theatre costume design and makeup; advising and mentoring costume and makeup design and production students; overseeing personnel for all costume and makeup elements for departmental productions; providing departmental service and other requisite duties of a tenure-track position.

Essential qualifications include a terminal degree in costume design or related field from a regionally accredited university with two years teaching experience (graduate school teaching experience accepted) and experience designing costumes professionally. Proven record of research or creative works in costume design. Excellent communication skills; the ability to manage and supervise; and demonstrated ability to complete projects within time and budget constraints.

Lecturer - Hair, Wig, Makeup Specialist

The University of North Carolina Greensboro is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track lecturer position as Hair, Wig, Makeup Specialist in the School of Theatre to begin August 1, 2019.

Responsibilities include design hair, wigs, and makeup, and occasionally costumes for campus productions. Teach basic and advanced makeup special effects and prosthetics, wig styling and wig maintenance. Supervise student wardrobe running crews and wig and makeup workshops. Attend dress rehearsals and strikes. Assist in maintaining costume stock and coordinating costume loans. Collaborate in planning and scheduling Design and Technical Production area activity and creative work. Advise students on curriculum requirements and assist in student recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong preference for candidates with a graduate degree in wig and makeup design and certification in cosmetology; experience working with students in a college theatre environment and in professional theatre. Experience working with digital design software is strongly desired. Applicants with appropriate training, ability, and/or professional experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.
