Assistant Producer-Tantrum Theater

The Ohio University College of Fine Arts is accepting applications for a full-time assistant producer for Tantrum Theater.

Tantrum Theater was founded in 2015 by Ohio University’s College of Fine Arts to serve as a professional theater in residence within the Theater Division. The theater serves as a training ground providing apprenticeships for undergraduate and graduate students who work alongside nationally recognized actors, directors, designers and production personnel. Tantrum produces two shows per academic year, hosts guest artists throughout the fall and spring semesters, and will present the first summer festival of presented work in 2019.

The Assistant Producer assists and supports the Producing Director on the planning, scheduling, and delivery of Tantrum Theater productions and programming. The assistant producer provides critical administrative support and initiative in the following areas: supporting all aspects of guest artist and student apprentice relationships; artistic and operational planning and administration; facilitating budget, payroll, and financial management; supporting the strategic planning initiatives of the Tantrum leadership; developing and coordinating special events and other one-time projects; and facilitating staff, guest artist, and student apprentice collaboration and communication under the supervision of the Production Manager.

Steppenwolf’s Artistic Office responsibilities include: collaborating with and supporting the Steppenwolf Ensemble; programming, artistic-producing, and casting the seven subscription season productions in our Downstairs and Upstairs Theatres, as well as Steppenwolf for Young Adults’ two-play season; LookOut programming for our 1700 Theatre; School at Steppenwolf; SCOUT New Play Development Program; Steppenwolf’s Commissioning Program; and workshops/readings of commissions and new plays.
