The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies position beginning in September 2018, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant expertise in performance studies as well as theatre history. The department is especially interested in scholars with a specialization that has earned conference visibility and the promise or fact of publication, preferably in a field that balances and adds to our current departmental strengths. Duties of the position include instructing graduate level seminars; mentoring graduate students in their research, teaching and professionalization; directing theses and dissertations; teaching multi-level undergraduate courses in performance studies and world theatre; supporting the production work of the department in accordance with candidate’s areas of expertise; active participation in the governance of the department; contribution to the diversity goals of the department through scholarship, teaching and/or theatre/performance practice.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. completed by the date of hire and will also be able to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence, an active profile in the field, and a robust research plan.
