Ohio University Theater Division invites applicants for a Scenic Artist/Paint Shop Supervisor specializing in Scenic Painting, beginning Fall 2019. Because the university seeks faculty members who bring a critical perspective to issues of diversity and multiculturalism, the College of Fine Arts is invested in hiring faculty and staff members who can contribute to the climate of diversity in the Theater Division.

Minimum Qualifications

• MFA or equivalent professional experience in Scenic Painting.

• Teaching ability of multiple painting applications, and introduction to design.

• Working knowledge of all areas in the scenic design and technology programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• University teaching experience.

• Experience teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds.

• Connections to professional markets. Responsibilities Scenic painting and teaching (color matching, wood graining, faux finishing, marble brick and stone, painting on fabric and scrim, sign painting, portraiture and trompe-l’oeil, etc.); train and mentor student painting teams; enforce shop standards; teach introductory scenic design classes; daily paint shop supervision and maintenance.

Assistant Professor Theatre Scenic Design

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Scenic Design, beginning August 2019. The successful candidate will teach Scenic Arts courses in the Theater & Dance department, design productions, teach additional courses in relevant areas of expertise (i.e., Scene Painting, Props Design and Construction, Collaborative Studies, Theatre Technology, Vectorworks, etc.), and advise students. Service through committee work to the department and the university is expected.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University offers a BFA in Acting and a BA in Theatre (with four tracks: Acting/Directing, Stage Management, Dance, and Tech/Design). The department works closely with the BW Music Theatre and Opera programs, and we have an active partnership with Great Lakes Theater.
